As the summer II session has kicked off and everyone is running wild with school, extra-curricular activities, and so on... its time to slow down and really think about where life has brought me. I am currently a Graduate student enrolled at Virginia Tech. I never once thought that I would become a Hokie, even though my immediate family are big Hokies. Throughout the past two summers I worked for a general contractor in Richmond to obtain an understanding of the building business. Having lived in Texas my whole life, it was quite a change to move away, but the experience was unforgettable. R.T. and Brenda Avery enabled me to have a wonderful opportunity to spend my summers working for their residential homebuilding company. As of today, I refer to the Avery's as my second parents, just as they took me in as one of their own. They have been a significant blessing in my life.
Dr. McCoy, my Summer II professor has challenged the class to make a blog and cite our construction activities as we observe, notate, and reflect on our experiences in the field viewing both residential and commercial construction projects. This blog will serve as both my construction blog and personal blog concerning construction related topics. It is my goal that after reading each post you would take away something insightful and maybe learn a thing or two on different aspects of construction. Enjoy!
